The Granola Project

My Mom likes to get plain non-fat greek yogurt.  When I eat it in the morning without any sweetener, I get this sour, acidy taste in my mouth like I just threw up. I told my Mom about this taste, and out of consideration for her own taste, I chose not to reveal to her that I thought it was puke. She told me that she thought it tasted like rennet. I didn’t know what rennet was, so she told me it was stomach acid from a mammal, lol.  I guess we had similar taste experiences with this yogurt after all.

I’m sorry if this made some of you crinkle your mouth into the “bad-smell face,” but all of this to say I asked my Mom to get some granola to mask the sour taste of this yogurt and to make breakfast more enjoyable.

So, guess what? Granola is bad for you! Whatttt??? I thought granola was healthyyyyy! It’s not. Its full of sugar and fat! ….unless you make your own.

You should have seen our kitchen table covered with every cook book we own looking for a healthy granola recipe.

We didn’t find one. My most brilliant chef friend didn’t even have a recipe for granola. That’s when I resorted to Google. I guess that’s not much of a resort, probably should have started there actually. Anyway, I found this recipe!!! Wooooo! PTL PTL PTL!

Pretty Darn Healthy Homemade Granola

I substituted almonds and walnuts for the nuts that the Scottish lady added. I added some flax seeds and also used honey that was made by my dear friend, Sarah, instead of the maple syrup.  I hope it turns outtt!!! I have to wait another 35 minutes until it’s done, so I figured I’d write this blog about it while I waited.  I also wanted to put the recipe somewhere that I remembered. :]

If you read this whole post… I hope it didn’t waste too much of your time. Ohh, and here’s a picture of what it should look like!

Thank you, Pastor Roger, for providing another clarifying, and inspirational, yet delightfully convicting message.

Somehow after hearing a word from Pastor Roger, I am able to walk away knowing just what it is that God wants me to shed from my life.  I truly believe that Pastor Roger has the mind of Christ and I am thankful that he is willing to share such truthful messages to the congregation.  Whether we like it or not!

Anyways, this message took us back to the Lord’s prayer. Luke 11:2 “your kingdom come!”
